I was told specifically that it is legal (and to the discretion of immigration officers) to volunteer with workaway for under 3 months if there is no stipend. In my case, I am planning on workawaying with a for-profit business for cultural exchange. HOWEVER, if there is any stipend given (even just for living expenses), one MUST have a work visa.

Hey Caitriona, thank you for your kind words. I am glad to hear that you like this article, especially as an Irish person! I’m an American but have lived in Ireland for 1.5 years. I felt like it was my duty to let the Americans know that they shouldn’t say they’re Irish lol. It also bugs me when people say Ireland is in the UK haha. Most travel blogs would never say this stuff so I felt like I needed too. Thanks again for reading and leaving such nice feedback!
