The Canadian English Institute in Cuenca, Ecuador, invites volunteers to assist students in improving their speaking and listening skills through natural conversations and cultural exchange.

Located in the Av. Remigio Crespo sector, near the historic center, restaurants, shopping centers, cafes, and bars, the institute offers a vibrant and enriching environment.

Volunteers will participate in English courses and engage in various activities, fostering a meaningful cultural exchange. The location provides easy access to tourist attractions such as the historic center, churches, Mirador de Turi, parks, sports areas, gyms, and nature reserves.

Their goal is to offer volunteers a unique experience, allowing them to fully enjoy their stay and recommend our center to others.

Tasks

Volunteers are asked to spend a small portion of their time engaging in conversations with students to help improve their English skills. The schedule is flexible and can be arranged between the coordinator and the volunteer, allowing ample time to explore and enjoy the city.

Accommodation

Volunteers are welcome to stay at the institute for a minimum of 20 days. Accommodation includes a fully furnished space with basic amenities, offering a choice between a private double room and a private single room.

Cuenca, located in the southern Andes of Ecuador, is renowned for its colonial architecture and vibrant cultural scene. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it offers rich history and scenic beauty.

To get there, you can fly into Mariscal Lamar International Airport with direct flights from Quito and Guayaquil, or take a bus from major cities like Quito, Guayaquil, and Loja.

Local transportation includes affordable taxis, an extensive public bus network, and bike rentals. The historic center, with its colonial buildings, churches, and cobblestone streets, is best explored on foot.

Must-see attractions include Mirador de Turi for city and mountain views, Cajas National Park for hiking and wildlife, and Ingapirca Ruins, the largest Inca ruins in Ecuador.

The city has a mild climate year-round, so it’s best to bring layers for the changing weather. Don’t miss exploring local markets for arts and crafts.
