Join Cara’s charming petting farm, farm shop, and B&B in John O’Groats, offering stunning views of the Orkney Islands. She is seeking couples to assist with farm tasks, animal care, and general maintenance.

Overview

The farm is the most northerly petting farm and farm shop on the mainland U.K. The animals, a mix of rescues and those born or bought and live their entire lives there. They are friendly, love attention, and do not enter the food chain. There are also two friendly Dalmatian farm dogs, a mother-and-daughter duo.

Tasks

  • Animal Care – Start the day at 8:30 am by feeding the animals before opening to the public at 10 am.
  • Maintenance – Includes mucking out pens, painting fences, weeding, and cutting grass in summer.
  • Visitor Preparation – Keep the farm tidy for visitors.

Accommodation

Volunteers will stay in a fully equipped caravan with mains electricity, water, WiFi, bathroom, and kitchen. It is warm, dry, and has everything needed. The toilet cassette needs emptying every 5 days, and the washing machine is in the main house.

Experience the tranquility and beauty of John ‘O Groats. To make sure there is a good personality fit, it should be noted that the farm is quiet.

It is best suited for those who enjoy peace and nature rather than constant entertainment. The village pub is nearby for those who like to go out for a drink and meal.

Additional Information

The host, Cara, is a single woman who is hard-working, drama-free, and easy-going with some basic rules.

Rules – No smoking, drug use, or excessive drinking on-site.
