Help out at a small, cozy hostel in Mostar, perfect for solo travelers looking for a laid-back and social environment. With only 16 beds, they usually host no more than 3 guests at a time, ensuring a tight-knit community feel.

They are not a party hostel; instead, they focus on creating a space where guests can connect, relax, and enjoy the local culture.

Tasks

As a volunteer, you’ll assist with check-ins, check-outs, and general cleaning duties. Your working hours are flexible and based on the hostel’s needs, allowing you plenty of time to explore Mostar and the surrounding Herzegovina region.

Additionally, when there are available spots on the hostel tours, you can join for free, gaining a deeper insight into the local area.

Accommodation

In return for your help, they provide free accommodation in the hostel. You’ll also benefit from free laundry service and the opportunity to participate in fantastic tours at no cost.

While the minimum stay is 3 weeks, you are welcome to stay as long as you like, immersing yourself fully in the local culture and community. It’s essential that volunteers have a good command of English to communicate effectively with guests and staff.

Location

Mostar doesn’t have its own commercial airport. The nearest airport is Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ), approximately 127 kilometers northeast of Mostar.

From the airport, you can take a bus or train to reach us. Located just a 5-minute walk from the historic old town and about a 30-minute walk from the east bus station, the hostel offers convenient access to all the city’s attractions.

The hostel’s central location makes it easy to explore the city’s rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant local culture.

  • When visiting Mostar, begin by exploring the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge), a stunning piece of Ottoman architecture that spans the Neretva River.
  • Stroll through the old town, filled with cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and vibrant bazaars. Don’t miss the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque for panoramic views of the city.
  • Try local delicacies such as cevapi (grilled meat) and burek (savory pastry). For a deeper cultural experience, visit the War Photo Exhibition to understand the city’s recent history.
  • The best time to visit is during spring or autumn when the weather is mild. Mostar can be very hot in summer and cold in winter.
  • Public transport is limited, so walking is the best way to explore the city. For day trips, consider visiting nearby Blagaj, known for its beautiful tekke (Dervish monastery), or the Kravice Waterfalls.
  • Stay hydrated, wear comfortable shoes, and carry a map or guidebook. Enjoy the warm hospitality of the locals and the city’s unique blend of cultures.

Additional Information

They are currently accepting solo travelers only; no couples or groups of friends. This ensures a harmonious and manageable dynamic within the hostel.

While they cater to a diverse range of guests, the hostel prioritizes creating a peaceful and inclusive environment over hosting large parties or heavy drinking events.

Volunteers have the chance to truly experience Bosnia and Herzegovina, from its breathtaking landscapes to its unique traditions and cuisine. If you’re looking for an authentic and enriching experience, the hostel would love to have you join the family.
